The Al Andalus complex in Alcossebre is laid out in several white-fronted apartment blocks, with arches and tiled roofs, around a central garden. In that garden are the seasonal pools, one for adults and one for children, linked by paths, lawns, olive trees and pines.
Pools: one for adults and one for children
The Al Andalus complex has separate adult and children's pools, so the little ones can paddle in shallow water while the grown-ups swim. Both are seasonal and have opening hours posted at the complex; it's worth checking them when you arrive.

Around the pools there are lawns and benches, and a white footbridge crosses between the two. For many families it's the afternoon meeting point: children play, parents read in the shade and you get to know other families who come back every summer.

A large garden to play and relax in
What guests at Al Andalus praise most is how spacious and well kept the gardens are. Casa Azahar describes it as "an oasis of tranquillity", and it is for much of the day: the paths keep the blocks away from traffic, and from many terraces all you can see is greenery and water.

Which apartment to choose if you have children
- With a baby or pushchair: a ground-floor apartment, because the complex has no lift. Ask for a cot when you book.
- With two children: the two-bedroom apartment gives them their own room and leaves the sofa bed free.
- With young children who nap: the air-conditioned apartments are a blessing in July and August.
- Families of 5 or 6: two bedrooms plus the sofa bed in the living room.
